Sheikh Jamal Hammoud is a respected imam, scholar, and community leader who has dedicated his life to teaching the Qur’an and Sunnah
and serving Muslim communities across Canada and abroad. Originally from Lebanon, he began his pursuit of Islamic knowledge at a young age.
At just 11 years old, he was sent to the prestigious Al-Azhar Institute in Beirut, where he completed foundational studies in Qur’an,
Arabic, and Islamic sciences under recognized scholars. He later furthered his education at the Islamic University of Madinah,
specializing in Sharī‘ah and Islamic jurisprudence.
After completing his formal studies, Sheikh Jamal moved to Canada in the 1980s, where he has served as an imam, khatīb, teacher,
and advisor in Calgary, Edmonton, and other communities across North America. Over the decades, he has delivered thousands of lectures,
classes, and community programs, guiding Muslims in matters of faith, family, and personal development.
Sheikh Jamal is a founding member of the Council of Imams in Canada and serves as an official representative in Canada on behalf of
the Grand Mufti of Lebanon. His leadership, integrity, and deep knowledge have made him a trusted reference for individuals and families
seeking spiritual guidance, counselling, conflict resolution, and clarity in religious matters.
Beyond his local work, Sheikh Jamal has travelled internationally for da‘wah, charitable missions, humanitarian relief, and community
development initiatives. His efforts have supported Islamic institutions, strengthened Muslim unity, and uplifted vulnerable communities
around the world.
Through decades of service, teaching, and leadership, Sheikh Jamal continues to build a legacy rooted in knowledge, compassion,
and dedication to the Ummah.
